Columbus Dispatch engages readers’ ears with eclipse playlists

Ohio isn’t quite in the totality of the Aug. 21 total eclipse, but that hasn’t stopped The Columbus Dispatch from finding ways to engage with its online audiences about the event.

Last night, the newsroom put out a call for suggestions for eclipse-themed songs on its Facebook page, which led to the creation of a 60-song Spotify playlist.

The playlist is currently just a few tunes shy of four hours long, so about 100 times longer than the length of the eclipse itself.

The Dispatch embedded the playlist right into an article, along with other eclipse content, and has seen such a good reader response that more ideas for playlists are already in the works.
