AP style rules for the time element
Sunday, Monday, happy days.
Tuesday, Wednesday, happy days.
Thursday, Friday, happy days.
Saturday, what a day… to make sure you’re aware of the AP style rules for the element of time.
Use the day of the week within a seven-day range of the current date.
- But, be sure to avoid redundancies such as “last Wednesday” or “next Wednesday”
A date should be used for time ranges beyond seven days.
Avoid using the word “on” before a day or a date, except at the beginning of a sentence, unless its absence would lead to confusion.
- “On” should also be used between a date and a proper name.
Use days of the week, not “today” or “tonight”
